Glass & Crystal
Cut crystal, art glass, and pressed glass treasures.
Waterford, Baccarat, Depression glass, and studio pieces — carefully packed and photographed under raking light to reveal every detail.
Cut crystal, art glass and Depression glass all photograph beautifully and hide their flaws in exactly the same places. We shoot every piece under raking light so you can see them.
What to look for in glass & crystal
- Rim and foot flakes
- Run a light along the edge — tiny flea bites catch the beam and the fingernail.
- Ring test
- Leaded crystal rings with a long clear tone; pressed glass sounds dull.
- Acid-etched marks
- Waterford, Baccarat and studio makers often signed the foot or base faintly.
- Sickness
- Cloudy interior haze in decanters and vases is mineral etching and rarely fully reversible.
How we list glass & crystal
Glass is double boxed with a suspended inner carton — decades-old pieces do not get a second chance in transit.
Colour, pattern name and measurements are listed wherever the piece can be attributed. Unattributed art glass is described honestly as unsigned.
Common questions
How can I tell crystal from glass?
Leaded crystal is heavier, refracts more colour, and rings clearly when tapped. Pressed glass is lighter with softer cut edges and visible mould seams.
Can cloudy decanters be cleaned?
Surface film usually cleans up. True sickness — etching from long-standing liquid — is permanent and we always disclose it.
Is Depression glass dishwasher safe?
No. Hand wash in warm water; dishwasher heat and detergent dull the surface permanently.
