Frequently Asked Questions
Everything buyers usually ask us about checkout, condition, packing and returns. If your question isn't here, send it over — we answer every message ourselves.
Buying from us
Where do I actually complete my purchase?
Every item is listed and sold through our eBay store, Legacy Estate Collective. Clicking any listing on this site takes you to that item on eBay, where checkout, payment and buyer protection are handled by eBay. We never take card details on this website.
Can I buy directly from you instead of through eBay?
We keep purchases on eBay so you keep full buyer and payment protection. If you have a question about an item first, use the Make an Offer or Ask a Question form and we will reply by email.
Do you accept offers?
Often, yes. Use the offer form on any item, or eBay's Best Offer where it is enabled. Offers submitted here are informal and are not binding until we confirm and you complete checkout on eBay.
Can I buy several items together?
Yes. Save the pieces to your wishlist, tick the ones you want, and send a bundle request. We will quote you a combined price and combined shipping where the items can safely travel together.
Do you offer layaway or holds?
We can hold an item briefly while a question is being resolved. Formal layaway is not available, since payment is processed by eBay at checkout.
Condition and authenticity
How do you grade condition?
Every listing describes wear in plain language and shows it in photographs rather than hiding it. Estate pieces have history: expect patina, minor surface wear and age-appropriate marks. Anything structural — cracks, repairs, replaced parts, missing pieces — is always stated in the description.
Do you test gold and silver?
Yes. Precious metal is confirmed by hallmark where present, and unmarked pieces are acid or XRF tested before we describe them as gold or silver. If we cannot confirm a metal, the listing says so and it is priced accordingly.
Are gemstones certified?
Most estate stones arrive without paperwork. We describe cut, colour and measurements, and state clearly when a stone is unidentified or untested. We never call a stone natural without evidence.
What if an item is not as described?
Tell us and we will make it right. Our authenticity commitment and returns process are set out in full on the authenticity and returns pages.
Shipping and packing
How quickly do you ship?
Orders are packed and dispatched within one to two business days of cleared payment, with tracking uploaded to your eBay order.
How do you pack fragile items?
Glass, porcelain and crystal are double boxed with a suspended inner carton and rigid void fill. Jewelry travels boxed and tracked. We over-pack deliberately — decades-old pieces do not get a second chance.
Do you ship internationally?
International buyers are served through eBay's global shipping options where available for that listing. Duties and import charges are the buyer's responsibility.
Can I combine shipping on multiple wins?
Yes, when items can be packed safely together. Ask before paying so we can send a combined invoice through eBay.
Returns and support
What is your return window?
Returns follow the policy shown on each eBay listing and our returns page. Contact us first — most issues are resolved faster by message than by opening a case.
An item arrived damaged. What now?
Photograph the box and the packing material before unpacking further, then message us the same day. Carrier claims depend on that evidence, and we handle the claim rather than leaving it to you.
Can you look for a specific item for me?
Yes. Tell us what you are hunting and we will watch for it as lots come through, or set up an item alert so you are emailed the moment a match is listed.
How do I stop receiving alert or newsletter emails?
Every email includes a one-click unsubscribe link, and alerts and the newsletter are managed separately so you can keep one and stop the other.
Still need a hand?
